Ready to take your new business idea to the next level or expand your existing business? Join the fall cohort of the Iowa Venture School!

During the 7-week program, the Iowa Venture School program uses the National Science Foundation (NSF) I-Corps curriculum, real-world experimentation, customer discovery, and the Lean LaunchPad methodologies to help you test your ideas, create a solid business model, and launch your startup! While in the program you and your team will have access to connect with entrepreneurs, mentors, and resources across the state that will be invaluable to helping your startup grow and scale! 

There is no better way for you to evaluate your business idea, receive expert guidance, and find the support you need - all through a program that fits your busy life!

This time we will innovate with Crescent Community Health Center

Throughout the IDEAthon, you’ll work with people from different sectors and backgrounds, who bring different perspectives; strengthening collaboration skills and limiting group think. By the end of the day, your team will develop and pitch actionable solutions.

FUNDER HUDDLE ON NONPROFIT INNOVATION

Innovation is a hot topic, especially in the business world. Yet, innovation in the nonprofit sector is more critical than ever as the challenges we face in our communities become more complex and the pressure to have impact at scale becomes greater. How are nonprofits keeping up? What strategies are there for supporting innovation in the sector? Who are the social entrepreneurs and innovators working on this? How can philanthropy play a role in fostering innovation?

This 3-hour session will include presentations from Creative Adventure Lab (Dubuque, IA) and NewBoCo (Cedar Rapids, IA) staff. Both organizations will share their work to foster innovation in the nonprofit sector. Funders will also have the opportunity to participate in two ideation exercises to put these practices and concepts into action.

Learning Objectives:

* Funders will explore how innovation is showing up in the nonprofit sector.

* Funders will learn from examples of what philanthropy is doing to foster innovation.

* Funders will better understand how nonprofits in Iowa are thinking about innovation

You will learn how to identify, prioritize and test business assumptions and walk away from DAY 1 with a 1st draft of your business model canvas.
